Chess Program
Henrico PAL’s Chess Program is more than just a game — it’s a powerful tool for developing young minds. Open to players of all skill levels, this program teaches youth how to think critically, plan strategically, and make smart decisions under pressure — skills that benefit them both in the classroom and in everyday life.
Through fun, interactive lessons and friendly competition, participants learn the fundamentals of chess while building patience, focus, and confidence. Alongside the mental challenge, the program promotes good sportsmanship, respect, and perseverance.
Whether a beginner or a future grandmaster, every child walks away with sharper thinking skills and a stronger sense of self. It’s a checkmate for growth, leadership, and learning!
Wanna Join the Chess Club?
Participants should be at least vaguely familiar with the game of chess, but this is not mandatory. Informal lessons will be provided to those unfamiliar with the game of chess. As the program expands, we will be organizing more events!! Join us for a place to play or watch games, opportunities to bring your chess knowledge to others, club tournaments and more!! Remember all ages are welcome.
